This side view of the historic wooden Jolly Mill in Pierce City, Missouri also gives you a glimspe of the flowing waterfall behind it over the dam. I photographed this on a crisp autumn afternoon in the Ozarks. Originally built in 1848, this vintage structure stands as a powerful reminder of the region’s past, having endured the Civil War even after the nearby town was destroyed. Capps Creek flows behind the mill, adding a sense of calm and timelessness. Today, the restored mill and surrounding park preserve the spirit of the former town of Jollification, with historic buildings relocated to reflect its original setting. Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, Jolly Mill remains a treasured Missouri landmark and a favorite destination for photographers, history lovers, and those drawn to the beauty of the Ozarks in autumn.
