Sea Kayaks

Piece description from the artist

I have been experimenting with “painting” with light across the sensor of the camera using a slow shutter speed and moving the camera as well as my body. So the camera is the “brush” and light the “paint.” The images are quite impressionistic. And they are sometimes quite evocative and colorful. What is captured is not quite what the eye sees, but then photography has never claimed to be an exact representation of reality. Photography is, at its very best, a representation of what the artist sees, feels and wants to communicate to the viewer.

About Elisabeth Bard

Newark, DE

Elisabeth Bard is in search of images that have a quiet, meditative quality, simple gifts to
soothe our souls.

Texture, color and the patina of our surroundings stimulate our senses and lead to the creation of environmental tapestries and dreamlike scenes.

Throughout her career, she has tried to create the sensation of time within two-dimensional spaces whether through paint or the movement of the camera. The movement of light across the camera sensor and the motion of the camera feels like a dance to me.She creates windows into worlds of the space we inhabit. These are gateways into fantasy, fairy-like places that exist between the seemingly hard and fast edifices of our rapidly changing world.

Elisabeth resides in Newark, Delaware and works from her home. She is the mother of two cats and two grown children. She is a avid knitter and reader.
