Piece description from the artist
Sea Currents is one of my abstract pieces. I enjoy creating swirling patterns that connect, and have titled many of my abstracts in this genre using the word: Currents. This one incorporates many colors on the blue palette, some seafoam green, gold, and brown. It also has a touch of violet in the early layers.
Linda Kegley moved to Florida from Lexington, Kentucky where she was an active member of the arts community, calligrapher, graphic designer, and owner of LK Artworks, an advertising and graphic design business. She currently lives in Southern Maine, not far from the water and her children and grandchildren.
An award-winning artist, she has created commissioned pieces for scores of clients, some as far away as Japan. Her “Don't Drink Like a Fish ™” series continues to evolve with new situations, fish, patterns, and themes. She has created over 400 paintings in this series, and the “fish” are now living all over the World. They now include Girlfins™ , Bestfins™, and Petite Girlfins™
“I love the tremendous fun of creating art, and will always lean toward the whimsical, funky style and subject matter that make people feel happy and smile. My goal is that you connect with the freedom, color, and energy of my work. If I can transport the viewer to a happy world for a few minutes, then I have achieved my goals. I like to think of my paintings as a run through the water sprinkler on a hot summer's day. I believe that the desire to surround oneself with happy art is universal.”
We are former sailors -with a love of the sea, beach, and ocean's treasures! Living near the coast in Wells, Maine, I find much inspiration from walks through the marshlands, nature preserves, and rocky beaches of New England. New water birds, and animals are inspiring to paint. Some of the series of paintings I have created (Coral Reefs, BestFINS, GirlFINS, and Drink Like a Fish) are reflections of my love of the sea and beach lifestyle.
About commissions:
"I hope to create a piece that will bring joy and become a point of pride in the homes of my collectors. My goal is to take your idea and give it life. An unexpected, large-scale piece in a space can command attention and be the perfect finishing touch."
