I had wanted to capture the jagged peaks of the Sawtooth Range during the first light of day for a few years, and arrived on an early morning to photograph them bathed in a warm, golden sunrise. The dramatic granite spires, carved by ancient alpine glaciers, stand in sharp relief against a soft morning sky. Surrounded by dense forests of lodgepole pine and Douglas fir flank the shoreline, their deep greens contrasting with the glowing pink and orange hues hitting the mountain faces was truly an ethereal experience. The composition perfectly encapsulates the "sawtooth" appearance of the range, highlighting the pristine wilderness and the serene, high-altitude atmosphere that defines the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
