Sarabande 2

Sarabande

Piece description from the artist

While this isn't truly a self portrait, it does bear some resemblance to me sitting at my piano. It's titled "Sarabande", which is a stately form of a dance back in the 1700's. Many of my favorite Bach pieces are titled Sarabande. The mosaic includes hundreds and hundreds of pieces of paper that I cut out one by one from the colors I find in magazines and junk mail, and then glued one by one to create an ombre effect.

About Linda McClamrock

Seattle, WA

Linda is a collage/mixed media artist, using primarily upcycled printed papers. She also incorporates vintage music, old books, discarded sewing patterns, and whatever else she finds.

Linda does not have a traditional art background, discovering her talent for collage only in her 50’s. She started making collages on a whim one summer and found she could not stop. Her technique is unusual, as she does not draw. She sees the piece in her head and starts looking for the right colors/textures to bring her creation to life. Then she picks up her trusty scissors and starts cutting!

Linda’s work has been featured in several Seattle galleries, and she also sells art at a wide variety of art festivals. She has one collage in the City of Seattle’s collection, and several in Childhaven’s collection. Last summer, she also had a collage in the Deep Dive show at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art.
