When I first moved to Fort Lauderdale in the mid-nineties, I often sought solace on this rock, sketching and writing poetry as the world unfolded around me. The art school I attended was just a short walk away, and this humble rock became my after-school sanctuary—a place where creativity and introspection flourished. I later named it Sanctuary in honor of the inspiration it provided.
Twenty years later, I returned to this cherished spot to witness and capture a breathtaking sunrise. These photographs are the result of that moment, a testament to the enduring connection between place, memory, and artistic expression.
