Rue du Bac
Piece description from the artist
The more street corners a city has, the greater the quality of civic life will be. This painting, done one morning in Paris, is a view of the Rue du Bac where it intersects both the Boulevard Raspais and Boulevard Saint-Germain. Restaurants, cafes, and shops seem to jostle each other for best positions at the corners, like spectators at a sporting event. The buildings have round corners, as if to invite you to come around to meet a new friend.
