Piece description from the artist
In the Dolomites, the mountain called Würzjoch rises sharp and unforgiving. In this piece, I included roots in the foreground, twisting and clawing at the earth. On the mountain, the clouds hang low, gracing the peaks like smoke from a forgotten fire.
Würzjoch, or Passo delle Erbe, is nestled among the iconic peaks of the Dolomites and offers some of the most serene and untouched landscapes in the region. In this photograph, I aimed to capture the duality of the Dolomites. Tangled roots represent nature's resilience and life's tenacity. Meanwhile, the towering peaks remind of the vastness and timelessness of the mountains, standing without a care for the life they support.

Currently located in Washington, DC, Scott is a native Floridian photographer specializing in landscape photography. His work explores the interplay of light and dark — rejecting the notion that photography is just “painting with light.” He seeks what resides in the contrast — the liminal spaces of the world.
Scott has shot in some of the most beautiful locations in the world, including Iceland and locations throughout the Old World. But some of his most inspiring locations are right at home in America's enchanting National Parks.
