Piece description from the artist
This prismatic photograph, titled "Roots of the Quarry," captures a tree bordering the edge of the quarry at Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville, its roots and branches weaving through a vibrant, otherworldly scene. The prismatic effect transforms the natural greens and browns of the forest into a radiant spectrum of blues, purples, yellows, and reds, creating a glowing, almost surreal atmosphere. The interplay of light and color highlights the tree’s intricate structure, making it appear as if it’s rooted in a dreamlike, prismatic landscape. The background, a swirling mix of warm and cool tones, adds depth and a sense of mystery, evoking the rugged beauty of the quarry’s edge.
