The annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta draws visitors and balloonists from all over the world. I wanted to make a unique image of this much-photographed event so I pointed my camera inside a hot air balloon while it was inflating on the ground. I got the bonus of two people silhouetted against the outside of the balloon, which gave the photo scale and perspective. I hope this image brings you joy.
After a career as a photographer and visuals editor in newspapers, I decided to focus on documenting the natural world. I hope my images can not only bring others joy but also create a better understanding of the beauty and life around us.
