Piece description from the artist
"Reef Rendevous II" is an acrylic painting of realistic reef fish from the Pacific and Indian Ocean. It is a part of the reef series I painted a few years ago. The sister painting was a commission, and is in a private collection in Murrell's Inlet, SC.
Linda Kegley moved to Florida from Lexington, Kentucky where she was an active member of the arts community, calligrapher, graphic designer, and owner of LK Artworks, an advertising and graphic design business. She lives in Clearwater, not far from the water.
An award-winning artist, she has created commissioned pieces for scores of clients, some as far away as Japan. Her “Don't Drink Like a Fish ™” series continues to evolve with new situations, fish, patterns, and themes. She has created over 300 paintings in this series, and the “fish” are now living all over the World. They now include Girlfins™ and Bestfins™.
“I love the tremendous fun of creating art, and will always lean toward the whimsical, funky style and subject matter that make people feel happy and smile. My goal is that you connect with the freedom, color, and energy of my work. If I can transport the viewer to a happy world for a few minutes, then I have achieved my goals. I like to think of my paintings as a run through the water sprinkler on a hot summer's day. I believe that the desire to surround oneself with happy art is universal.”
We have been lifelong sailors -with a love of the sea, beach, and ocean's treasures! Living near the coast in Clearwater, Florida, I find much inspiration from the Gulf of Mexico, fabulous water birds, and tropical foliage. Some of the series of paintings I have created (Coral Reefs, BestFINS, GirlFINS, and Drink Like a Fish) are reflections of my love of the sea and beach lifestyle.
"I hope to create a piece that will bring joy and become a point of pride in the homes of my collectors. My goal is to take your idea and give it life. An unexpected, large-scale piece in a space can command attention and be the perfect finishing touch."
