One of my favorite shots is this one of a large curving bend on the road climbing to the top of Cottonwood Pass in Colorado. I captured this moment as several sports cars raced to the summit, creating a dynamic contrast between the natural landscape and the human-made machines. The curve of the road draws the eye to the horizon, where the sky and the mountains meet. The colors and the lighting are vivid and vibrant, reflecting the excitement and adrenaline of the drivers.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
