Piece description from the artist
After a full day of shooting in the Dolomites, I ended the day in a small clearing not too far from the area's only road. The very last light of the day fell on the cliffs in front of me, soft and fleeting with thin mist drifting over the peaks. The sky was turning from the deep blue of late day to violet as nighted pushed through.
In this photograph, I wanted to represent the impending night on the scene. The dark trees rise in the foreground, heavy and silent. Their shadows stretch out, pulling toward the light. The cliffs hold the warmth a moment longer, glowing defiantly against the darkening land. Daylight took its last breath.

Currently located in Washington, DC, Scott is a native Floridian photographer specializing in landscape photography. His work explores the interplay of light and dark — rejecting the notion that photography is just “painting with light.” He seeks what resides in the contrast — the liminal spaces of the world.
Scott has shot in some of the most beautiful locations in the world, including Iceland and locations throughout the Old World. But some of his most inspiring locations are right at home in America's enchanting National Parks.
