On the streets of Brooklyn anything can be found to be art. In the neighborhood of Bed-Stuy a culture exists of randomness, flyness, and the urbane. Despite the changes to the neighborhood over the years, the aura of this classic Brooklyn neighborhood remains the same. Untouched and unbothered, Bed-Stuy is one ever changing matrix of art and evolution.
Vanessa 'Venusian' Edwards is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, photographer, and Temple alumna who thrives on color, concept, and creativity. Through visually stimulating editing, she loves to emphasize the aspect of story and human emotion in any single photograph. Her favorite saying regarding her work is "human emotion is a lost art", which is something she aims to capture in every shot. As creative director and co-curator of the New York Art Collective and 1/2 of the creative team Sickly Particular, she is an active participant and driver of the arts community in Brooklyn. Her debut solo show, "She's Damaged" was an incredible success which has motivated her to continue her own creative projects and collaborations as well as curating other group shows.
