A cute American bison calf comes out from underneath its mothers chin. Check out the expression on the mom! She is staring me down and being a great protective parent. I captured them in the open grasslands of Badlands National Park in South Dakota. I was such a joy watching this family. I'm guessing it is the father that is laying down behind them. The grass in the foreground and rugged rock landscape in the background are blurred, keeping the focus on the buffalo.
