Prismatic Signs I

Piece description from the artist

Brandon Woods approaches photography not as a traditional photographer, but as a painter who uses the camera as an extension of his brush. His innovative prismatic photography explores dimensionality, perception, and the interplay of color, echoing the layered depth and dynamic compositions found in his paintings. Exploration and discovery are central to Woods’ process, leading him to delight in the wonder and intrigue of everyday objects when seen in new contexts—such as these signs, discovered against a wall at his favorite architectural salvage shop. In this unconventional setting, he was able to view them with fresh eyes, appreciating their formal qualities—color, line, and pattern—and their interaction with light. The prism’s influence added dynamic color, dimension, and depth, transforming these signs into a visually captivating work of art that transcends their original, utilitarian function.
