Piece description from the artist
Of a series of images Simon captured while travelling around Asia. In Buddhism, offering flowers to buddha statues as a form of prayer is intended to serve as a reminder that no one lives forever.
Truth, soul, and unpretentious sophistication characterize the work of artist Simon Kogan.
Born in Russia, he received thirteen years of classical academic training in Moscow, including a M.F.A. as well as an apprenticeship under renowned sculptor "Isaac Brodsky":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaak_Brodsky.
Since immigrating to the U.S. in 1991, he has steadily risen to national prominence as a sculptor, and more recently has branched out to photography. His work reflects a bold, yet poetic pursuit of the archetypal and renders an ethereal quality that resonates with the viewer.
