Piece description from the artist
Such a sweet and entertaining wildlife encounters I captured at Prairie Dog Town near Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming involved a playful prairie dog pup and its mother. As I watched from a distance, the young pup seemed full of energy, repeatedly barking and chirping while trying to get its mom's attention.
The little prairie dog bounced around the top of their dirt mound burrow, appearing eager to play as it faced its mother. Every time she moved, the pup followed closely behind, letting out tiny barks and playful calls. The interaction was both adorable and fascinating to watch, offering a glimpse into the social nature of these remarkable animals.
Prairie dogs live in close-knit family groups known as colonies and are constantly communicating through a variety of vocalizations and body movements. Prairie Dog Town at Devils Tower provides an excellent opportunity to observe these behaviors up close. Moments like this remind me that some of the best wildlife photographs come from patiently watching animals interact naturally, allowing their personalities to shine through.
