Prairie

Prairie

Piece description from the artist

Prairie is an abstract landscape painting of southwest USA landforms. Prairies are vast sweeping grasslands formed by weather and fire. Different from Europe's flowery meadows – prairies are dominated by large grasses with some forbs/flowering plants with deep roots. Prairies support more wildlife than any other type of ecosystem in the world. A plant lover's dream. Fabulous year-round colors and textures. Waiting for a fire to release the seeds and new growth.

This series was inspired by my home in Oklahoma, travels, and the study of the landscape architecture of the North American continent.
