Photomphalos

Piece description from the artist

As with my paintings “Rococotton Candy” and “Sanguinebulous Cannacea" I coined a new word to capture the essence of this image—an omphalos of light. An omphalos traditionally represents a central point or a “navel” of the world, often symbolized by a snake eating its own tail, showing the idea of cyclical creation and connection. In this photograph, the prism serves as that central point—catching sunlight and cycling it through the flower, making the zinnia glow from within. The light passes through the prism, illuminates the flower, and returns to the camera in a continuous flow, connecting nature, light, and perception.
