Pears - Cad Lemon Yellow & Ultramarine Blue

Piece description from the artist

The ‘Pear’ paintings are part of a series of I’m doing for color workshops I will be teaching so the originals are not for sale. As a group they are so beautiful and would look wonderful hung en masse or just a few of them. The originals are all 5 × 7 inches on linen and feature various types of limited palettes. For the studies, the same still life set up is used over and over again so that the change of color, or colors, can easily be compared without being distracted or confused by other subjects.

Cad Lemon Yellow and Ultramarine Blue yiels a much brighter, almost green yellow and a bright green. The backround moves from a soft yellow blue to a soft sky blue.

About Elizabeth B. Tucker

La Canada, CA

Originally from upstate New York, Elizabeth Tucker moved to Southern California in her early twenties. While she had always worked with her hands in the "needle arts" it was her husband who encouraged Elizabeth to begin drawing and painting when he gave her an easel as a gift. Seeking teachers who would instruct her in the classical tradition, Elizabeth studied at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA) and the Art Center College of Design and took private classes with artists "Ryan Wurmser": and "Aaron Westerberg": She is in the process of getting her Masters of Studio Art at the prestigious Florence Academy.

Although the majority of her work is in oil, Elizabeth enjoys working in other mediums such as ink, pastel, block prints and watercolor.

A multi-award winning artist and certified instructor in the Michael Wilcox School of Colour, Elizabeth is a juried member of the Women Painters West. In addition, she is a sought out teacher in classical painting and drawing.
