Path Along Meteor Crater Arizona

This photograph captures a dramatic view along the rim of Meteor Crater, also known as Barringer Crater, near Winslow, Arizona. From this vantage point, the guided tour walking pathway traces the edge of the crater, giving a powerful sense of scale as visitors carefully follow the rim above the vast impact site below. Sunlight illuminates the rugged rock layers while clouds drift overhead, adding depth and movement to the high desert sky.

Stretching nearly 3,900 feet across and plunging about 560 feet deep, this is the best-preserved meteorite impact crater on Earth. Designated a National Natural Landmark in 1967, Meteor Crater is a place where science, history, and awe intersect. Standing along the rim and watching the pathway curve into the distance makes it easy to imagine the immense force of the cosmic event that forever changed this Arizona landscape, leaving behind one of the most remarkable geological features in the world.
