Olive 2

Olive

Piece description from the artist

This piece is a part of my linear landscapes series. I often use colors that evoke memories of places I've traveled or places I've lived. "Olive" was inspired by the springtime in the Pacific Northwest. Winters here, though mild, can be long and dreary. Once spring arrives and the days start getting longer things finally start to bloom. I love the palatte of spring: bright greens of fresh buds, pretty blue skies, and the warm tones caused by the sun. I hope the viewer can find beauty and tranquility in this piece and that is reminds them of the beauty of nature.

About Kelly Neidig

Vancouver, WA

Kelly was born in Coraopolis, a small borough of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Some of her favorite memories come from the long car rides to her grandparents’ house in the country because she loved staring out of and the window watching the landscape pass.

After high school, she attended the Pennsylvania State University to study landscape architecture, before switching to a degree in integrative arts. After earning her degree, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona and spent years exploring the southwest, gaining inspiration from the vast open desert.

In 2005, her longing for rain, grass and trees led her to Portland, Oregon, and she has since become an active member of the local art community and has participated in several charity events. Kelly has shown in galleries and museums nationally and internationally, including her participation in the "10th NW Biennial":http://www.tacomaartmuseum.org/Page.aspx?cid=7915 at the "Tacoma Art Museum":http://www.tacomaartmuseum.org/ in Tacoma, Washington as well as the "Arts in the Embassies Program":http://art.state.gov/ in "Doha":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doha, Qatar. Elements of the "Pacific Northwest":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Northwest have been very influential in her paintings, which also reflect colors and memories from the places where she has lived and traveled.
