Piece description from the artist
I captured this photograph while standing beside the historic Jolly Mill Lane Bridge near Jolly Mill Park in Pierce City, Missouri. Built in 1906, this rusty old truss bridge crosses Capps Creek and is now a private bridge that is no longer in use. Its weathered brown structure has plenty of character, making it an interesting subject to photograph.
It was a beautiful autumn afternoon, with the surrounding trees showing off shades of golden yellow and orange that almost seemed to blend with the rusty tones of the bridge. Above, patches of blue sky peeked through the partly cloudy weather, creating a wonderful contrast against the warm fall colors.
I love how this scene brings together a piece of local history and the beauty of the changing season. The aged bridge, colorful foliage, and peaceful surroundings made this a fun spot to stop and capture.
