Ode to Alex Katz

Piece description from the artist

Bright yellow daffodils take center stage in this vibrant painting, their cheerful blooms arranged against a smooth, solid pink backdrop. The composition captures the flowers at various moments of opening—from tight buds to full blossom—adding a natural rhythm and energy to the scene. The elongated green stems and leaves offer a graceful contrast, lending an elegant, almost delicate quality to the overall image. Clean lines and simplified forms emphasize color and shape over detail, creating a fresh, stylized look that feels both lively and inviting. The joyful color combination and thoughtful arrangement make the piece an uplifting celebration of spring’s simple beauty. This piece was inspired by an article and image of a painting by the incomparable Alex Katz, a leader in the pop art movement.
