Piece description from the artist
Northwest View at Night, an oil on canvas painting, is based on a number of sketchbook drawings I made over a period of 4 years, from my balcony highabove the Streets of New York City. The Empire State Building and its surrounding skyscrapers and smaller buildings, looking stately during the day, create beautiful tableaux and add a shimmer to the night sky.
Regina Silvers has been involved with fine art for her whole adult life, as a teacher, curator, art consultant, museum public relations manager; founder and President of TOAST, the TriBeCa Open Artist Studio Tour; founder and Director of the Gallery at Hastings-on-Hudson, and always, practicing artist.
Silvers draws and paints. The focus of her work changes with her life. Political/activist paintings are a visual diary of her social activism/ participation in democracy . City Views derived from looking from her balcony. The Jazz series results from listening and drawing at Jam Sessions; Nature-based paintings grew out of years of walking on trails and sitting in streams. The common thread her experience.
