North Point Lighthouse and Bench

Piece description from the artist

"To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue."
— Buddha

The North Point Lighthouse along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Lake Park, Milwaukee Wisconsin. The lighthouse was originally completed in 1855, rebuilt at it's present location in 1887 and finally raised to it's current height of 74 feet in 1912. It was taken out of service and closed by the US Coast Guard in 1994. In 2007, the lighthouse reopened to the public.

In the processing of this image, I was inspired by the lighthouse paintings of Edward Hopper.

About Scott Norris

Milwaukee, WI

motion. Mood. Atmosphere. These are the heartbeats of my photography. From sweeping landscapes to intricate still life and captivating macros, my work is a journey – one that reveals my triumphs, struggles, beliefs, and the essence of who I am.

I'm all about spontaneity. I don't stage what I shoot; I let the world around me guide the lens. What catches my eye becomes the canvas for my story.

But the magic doesn't end when I click the shutter. That's just the beginning. I dive deeper, transforming raw images into visual tales. I add textures, enhance contrasts, and sculpt the light and shadows to evoke the emotions I felt in that very moment. It's a process of alchemy, where my heart and mind collaborate to bring my vision to life.
