Piece description from the artist
I am excited about this new direction in my work. It’s a break from thinking about nature or a particular location to something conceptual. I start a piece with the simplest of forms in one color and let the piece find other colors then I shift to adding loosely painted geometric shapes until there is a balance between color and the forms.
Don’s work is a crossover between pure abstraction and references to the natural world. Color and texture are key elements in his work. His effort is to play with chaos and create balance through layers of transparent color and hue.
