"Mt. Norwottuck and Apple Trees". Holyoke Mountain Range, autumn

Piece description from the artist

This is the time of year I love drawing the Holyoke Range mountains, one of the only east-west axis mountain ranges in this country. I draw "Mt. Norwottuck," one oil the peaks, because it is so hard to get it's shape right. I have to relearn it all over again each time I draw. Each drawing takes 3-4 days 5-6 hours each day. The light constantly changes, offering more ideas of how to make the drawing whole that I had not seen the day before. The Town is late haying, so I had to compose in such a way that the lower part of the mountain did not feel cut off. I got very involved with the hay.
