Mountain is an abstract landscape painting of southwest USA landforms. Mountains here are among the oldest on earth. More rounded hills with craggy outcrops instead of soaring peaks. Tenacious trees and plants cling in cracks where water lingers. Intense light reflects off the subtle colors of minerals and soil, plants and textures, fascinating!
This series was inspired by my home in Oklahoma, travels, and the study of the landscape architecture of the North American continent.
Cynthia Fletcher is a painter, working in oil, acrylic, and digital media. Her style is abstract with jewel-tone color, texture, layering, and symbolism. Nature is her chief inspiration, and her work focuses on experiences there, using abstraction to go beyond form to capture and communicate light, color, and sensation.
Fletcher is also a Landscape Architect who has lived and worked in a variety of environments from Chicago to the rainforest of Panama. Her lakeside studio is located in Oklahoma City.
