The early light of day brought a peaceful start to the morning along Florida's Emerald Coast at the Russell-Fields Pier in Panama City Beach. I captured this photograph just before sunrise as cool tones of pinks, purple and blue were still in the sky. The 1,500-foot pier extends into the Gulf of Mexico leading the eye out to the endless view of water. Gentle waves wash onto the sandy beach while the emerald-green waters shimmered beneath the colorful morning sky. Also known as the Panama City Beach City Pier, it is one of two iconic fishing piers along Florida's scenic Panhandle.
