Piece description from the artist
Monochrome stand of bald cypress trees in submerged land seen in calm waters of the bayou of Atchafalaya Basin near Baton Rouge Louisiana. The trees stand nicely in the center of the image and the one lone tree on the left provides an interesting counterpoint to the main group. I thought the resultant image was both calm and intriguing.
Steve Heap has been a photographer for over 50 years now (which is frightening to think about!) but in that time he has developed an eye for what would make a striking piece of wall art. Photography is all about the light and his finest attribute is patience! Waiting for the conditions to be just right is the key to making a piece of art that you can be proud of. Of course, luck plays a part, but without that patience of being in the right place at the right time, it just becomes a snapshot. He focuses on capturing images from around the world – timeless shots that reward the viewer with insights as they spend more time with them!
