Missouri Morning At Bill Emerson Bridge

Piece description from the artist

This photograph captures the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, just before sunrise during the serene blue hour. Taken on a clear spring morning, the Mississippi River below runs higher than usual due to recent heavy rains. The bridge connects Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to East Cape Girardeau, Illinois, via Highway 74. Completed in 2004, the cable-stayed structure replaced the historic 1929 bridge and was named after Missouri Congressman Bill Emerson, who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1981 until 1996. The bridge also appeared in the 2014 film Gone Girl, adding to its regional significance.
