Piece description from the artist
Madrone tree at Salishan on the Oregon Coast. Layers of transparent oil on canvas. The marsh landscape, a place of decay and renewal, has become a place of solace for me.
American Artist, Lee Mohr, is known for otherworldly abstract landscapes inspired by the natural environment of the Pacific Northwest. Through the physical act of painting Mohr connects to her inner landscape. The resulting work is a confluence of that inner landscape and the natural world of ocean marshes and rain forests. Influenced by Sumi brushwork and the Mystic Painters of the Northwest her palette reflects the moody colors of the Pacific Northwest. Mohr's painting process is a combination of careful planning and intuitive spontaneity working in oil glazes and velaturas on canvas to create subtle textural landscapes. As trees emerge from these multilayered surfaces and storm clouds hover over the oceans landscapes may you be immersed in the visual poetry of our observable world. Mohr holds both a BFA in fine arts and MLA in fine arts and business management.
