Lore 34

Piece description from the artist

It's a reminder to remember how lucky we are. Every family has old stories. Lore. These family history stories are often like a game of “telephone.” Each generation that hears the story gets a slightly different version of it as details are embellished or forgotten through the decades. By the time the story reaches you, it may be nothing like what really happened. It’s a perfect piece for a summer residence, where families unwind and reconnect.

Bright and energy-laden, a balancing act between color, shape, texture abstraction and object. The colored surfaces are continuously worked over. Juxtaposing strong brush strokes and spray paint against delicate and whimsical, made with the artists non-dominant hand, dipping kebab skewers 🤣 and tree branches in calligraphy ink and letting them wander across the canvas.

About Sarah Finucane

Ridgefield, CT

Sarah Finucane is a contemporary abstract artist whose work blends structured design with raw, intuitive expression. Based in Connecticut after nearly two decades in LA, she brings a creative director’s clarity to a deeply personal practice. Her background in advertising and tech—leading campaigns for Fortune 50 brands—trained her to communicate through composition, balance, and tone. Those instincts now run through her artwork, where a visual language takes the place of literal messaging. Her art has been featured in Vogue and selected by Anthropologie’s curators. Collected internationally, her pieces often sell before they’re finished, and her commissions book out months in advance.
