Piece description from the artist
There are many famous lakes in the Italian Dolomites, and they are all famous for good reason. But the are scores of smaller ones, each holding its own charm. One of the smaller ones is Dürrensee in South Tyrol.
On this autumn morning, I stood at the edge of this smaller, perfectly still Alpine lake. The rough Kristallspitze was dusted with early snow and trees were adorned with peak autumn color. The water was smooth and the trees and mountains stared back at themselves in the resulting mirror.
It was very silent, here, during the low season with few visitors. The quiet was only broken by a faint breeze rustling through the trees. I made this photograph to preserve this feeling. The colors saturated but calm. The reflection imperfectly symmetrical, just lightly graced by the same subtle breeze in the forest.
The Dolomites are thought to be wild and fierce, but here was a moment of stillness.

Currently located in Washington, DC, Scott is a native Floridian photographer specializing in landscape photography. His work explores the interplay of light and dark — rejecting the notion that photography is just “painting with light.” He seeks what resides in the contrast — the liminal spaces of the world.
Scott has shot in some of the most beautiful locations in the world, including Iceland and locations throughout the Old World. But some of his most inspiring locations are right at home in America's enchanting National Parks.
