Phil has always loved flowers. Planting them in the ground or containers. Here he placed these flowers so that the late summer light added drama. The combination of the magenta petunias and red geraniums make for a striking arrangement in this garden scene.
Phil has always been interested in art
As a graphic artist, he found that his understanding of light and shadow, form and color, guided his illustrations in a real and convincing manner.
Artist that he admired were: Winslow Homer, FJ Waugh and JMW Turner to name a few.
Phil is inspired by windswept dunes, and the wild plants that struggle to grow around them, the relentless sea pounding sand and rocks.
These elements are an exciting challenge for me.
