Large Hedge Apple Tree Roaring River

Piece description from the artist

I love this large Hedge Apple / Osage Orange (Maclura pomifera) tree at Roaring River State Park in Cassville, Missouri, United States. It has very large branches that extend outward and upwards with cool twists and turns. It's the perfect tree to climb around on while your family fishes. I've read a National Parks article that said Native Americans loved these trees to make their bows out of. The blue green emerald colored waters of Roaring River flow behind it. Some anglers can be seen fishing near the waterfalls that flow from the manmade dam. This river is created from a natural spring that produces around 20 million gallons of water a day. It is the 20th largest spring in the state and they keep it stocked with rainbow trout making it a popular spot for fishermen and families.
