Kanarra Falls Slot Canyon Waterfall

A wider view inside the breathtaking Spring Creek Canyon reveals one of the beautiful waterfalls along the Kanarra Falls Trail in Kanarraville, Utah. I captured this long-exposure photograph as the cascading water flowed between a tall sandstone wall and a massive fallen boulder. The warm sunlight filtering into the canyon illuminated the rock walls with vibrant shades of orange, creating a striking contrast against the cool, rushing water below.

This waterfall is just beyond the main falls that draw most visitors. While it's often referred to as the "second waterfall," it was actually the fourth waterfall my husband and I encountered during our hike. Those willing to climb over the large boulder can continue farther upstream to discover yet another hidden waterfall tucked deeper within the canyon.

Photographing this incredible scene made every step of the journey worthwhile. We visited during the spring, when the spring-fed creek measured a frigid 36°F, and much of the 4 mile round-trip hike required walking directly through the icy water. Even in the summer, the creek stays refreshingly cold, making Kanarra Falls both a challenging and unforgettable adventure through one of Utah's most scenic slot canyons.
