Kanarra Falls Second Waterfall

Warm afternoon sunlight illuminates the orange canyon walls as a waterfall rushes between a rugged rock wall and a massive fallen boulder along the Kanarra Falls hiking trail in Kanarraville, Utah, United States. I captured this long exposure in Spring Creek Canyon, smoothing the movement of the cold, spring-fed water while preserving the rich textures and colors of the surrounding sandstone.

This waterfall is often referred to as the second waterfall, although it was actually the fourth waterfall we encountered along the trail. Located just beyond the main falls, it marks another beautiful section of the canyon, with yet another waterfall farther ahead. Reaching the next section requires climbing over the large boulder beside the falls, adding another element of adventure to the hike.

We visited during the spring season, and I was proud of both myself and my husband for making our way through water that was just 36 degrees Fahrenheit. The hike is 4 miles roundtrip, with much of the route traveling directly through the spring-fed creek. Even during the warmer summer months, the water remains remarkably cold, making this a memorable southern Utah hiking adventure.
