Junction

Piece description from the artist

This photo was nearly two years in the making. When I visited Hongkong for the first time back in January 2017 I did a lot of exploration along Connaught Road. I found one of the most spectacular views down in this canyon of skyscrapers near central station. The problem I had back then was the shear size of the buildings in the scene. I just couldn't fit everything into one photo. With only one day left I had to leave empty handed.

When I returned in late September 2018 I came prepared. I had rented a Tilt-Shift lens, which allowed me to create a so called Vertorama of the scene. Now I only had to return a couple of times until I got the right conditions – a blue hour sky with some streeking clouds that provide some dynamic element to the scene in addition to the light trails, which the cars left during the long exposure.
