Jolly Mill Natural Spring View

A peaceful autumn afternoon in the Ozarks at the historic Jolly Mill in Pierce City, Missouri, with beautiful shades of golden yellow and burnt orange filling the landscape. I captured this photograph as colorful foliage reflected in the clear spring-fed water beneath the small wooden covered bridge, creating a picturesque view of the historic mill and its surroundings.

Built in 1848, the wooden mill stands as a remarkable example of craftsmanship and resilience. It survived the Civil War, even after the surrounding community was burned, allowing this important piece of Ozarks history to remain standing. Capps Creek flows quietly behind the mill, adding the soothing sound of moving water to the peaceful setting.

Today, the historic property has been carefully restored as a park, with additional buildings relocated from other areas to help recreate the appearance and atmosphere of the former community of Jollification, Missouri. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Jolly Mill offers a unique glimpse into the past while providing a beautiful setting for enjoying autumn colors, flowing water, and the peaceful scenery of the Missouri Ozarks.
