This is the second of three iconic wooden pigtail bridges along the scenic Iron Mountain Road (U.S. Highway 16A) near Keystone, South Dakota. Surrounded by the pine forests of the Black Hills, these unique corkscrew-style bridges allow the road to gain elevation by looping back over itself, creating one of the most memorable drives in the United States.
Stretching 17 miles through Custer State Park, Iron Mountain Road is famous for its 314 curves, 14 switchbacks, three one-lane granite tunnels, and unforgettable views of Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Whether you're enjoying the engineering of the pigtail bridges or the breathtaking scenery along the way, this scenic byway is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the Black Hills of South Dakota.
