Into the Canyon at Kanarra Falls

Piece description from the artist

So amazing! That was my first reaction as I made my way through this incredible slot canyon section of Spring Creek Canyon on the hike to Kanarra Falls in Kanarraville, Utah. The smooth, curving sandstone walls caught the warm afternoon sunlight, creating beautiful golden highlights against the cooler shadows of the narrow passage.

A clear, cold spring flows through the canyon, creating small cascades as the water moves over and around the rocks. I captured this vertical photograph while hiking through the chilly 36-degree water, which made the experience both refreshing and unforgettable. Even during the summer, the spring remains surprisingly cold.

A little farther along the trail, the scenery leads to the beautiful Kanarra Falls waterfall, making the journey just as memorable as the destination. The hike is approximately 4 miles round trip, with much of the route following the spring through the canyon. Some sections can be challenging, requiring careful footing and climbing over large boulders, particularly beyond the main waterfall.

For me, this was one of those adventures where the landscape, cool water, warm sunlight, and sheer excitement of exploring somewhere so unique all came together. It is a hike I won't soon forget.
