AI upends the old definition of what it means to be human. Through my works, I try to remind people that in addition to cities, networks, and high civilization, we also belong to a community of life outside of technology. The fate that has been crushed by the civilization we have created will eventually fall on us, because this community of life has always been resonant and contending with each other.
Growing up in China over the past 30 years of rapid development, I have witnessed both the convenience and the cost of technology. When I was a child, I could see dragonflies in Beijing, but now these beautiful insects have disappeared from the city. Although we start to pay attention to endangered animals in the wild, we have very low tolerance for animals in the city, especially stray animals.
I've built a life club out of drawings. I converted the relationship between human beings and other living beings, as well as the fate of symbiosis and being squeezed by our civilization, through deformed and connected figures and abstract and represent images. Animals, plants, humans, myths, and so on are the subjects of my performance, and I hope that people can rethink our relationship with other life through my art, perhaps so that we can face the arrival of AI more calmly and intelligently.
