Piece description from the artist
A dramatic desert scene at Holeman Spring Canyon in Canyonlands National Park, near Moab, Utah, where a massive sandstone butte rises from the rugged canyon floor. This striking formation is part of the Island in the Sky District, one of the most photographed areas of Canyonlands, offering panoramic views of mesas, cliffs, and deep-cut gorges carved by the Colorado River and Green River over thousands of years. The butte, surrounded by layers of red rock and desert vegetation, showcases the park’s unique geology, shaped by erosion and weathering. Subtle purple hues in the passing clouds add to the ethereal atmosphere, creating a perfect backdrop for photographers, hikers, and travelers exploring Utah’s red rock country and the greater Moab region.
