Piece description from the artist
A gorgeous field of flowers I found one morning!
Hay—typically a mix of dried grasses or legumes like alfalfa or clover—is harvested and baled to feed livestock such as cows, horses, goats, and sheep. Baling preserves the nutritional value of the hay and makes it easier to store and handle. During winter or dry seasons when pasture grazing isn’t available, hay bales are a vital source of nutrition.
Jerred Zegelis was a public high school teacher for almost 20 years before becoming a full-time artist, using a camera as his primary means of expression. Zegelis infuses his love of the natural world into his photography, specifically thinking of the ways local artists interact with the world around them. He does not focus on mountains or oceans, large cities and tropical paradises and instead turns his lens toward the common dirt roads, prairies and open skies of the midwest. He has worked on many large-scale photography projects with another healthcare photographer, and making high-resolution imagery is his primary focus now for large spaces.
