Take a look at the cool root system on this juniper cedar tree growing in the rock on one of the mountains in Zion National Park, near Springdale, Utah, United States. I spotted this along the hiking trail to Zion Canyon Overlook. The sun had just gone down the mountain side behind me and we were heading back down the mountainside. The leaning tree is hanging on by one small root burried in the sandstone. Behind it, the red rock cliff rises high to the sky, highlighted with warm orange tones from the evening light. The terrain is spotted with evergreen trees and bushes to add contrast to the blue sky.
