I consider myself to be working in Contemporary and Expressionist styles. As an artist I am paying homage to an Impressionist Era. Painting figuratively, primarily representational with abstract color fields, I see my work as a mixture of metaphor and experience.
Try Serino's work confronts the fundamentally opposing ideas of experience and metaphor. Conceptual relationships between color and value influence her work.
Try works with a variety of materials, including gesso, acrylic mediums, charcoal, and photographs. Adding layers of pigment to build up the image, she attempts to illustrate the sometimes-darker beauty hidden in each work.
