Piece description from the artist
As the sun set behind me, a distant cloud beyond Gulf State Park Pier glowed brightly with shades of orange and pink while the rest of the sky gradually transitioned into the cool blue tones of early blue hour. Located in Gulf Shores, Alabama, the restored fishing pier stretches out into the Gulf of Mexico as gentle waves roll ashore along the sandy beach.
I like how the wet sand from the retreating waves created shimmering reflections of the pier's concrete columns and adding depth and sparkle to the composition. Captured in June 2025, this peaceful coastal scene came less than a year after the pier reopened in September 2024 following extensive repairs from the damage caused by Hurricane Sally in 2020.
It was a beautiful, quiet evening on Alabama's Gulf Coast and the perfect way to end the day, watching the last warm colors of sunset give way to the peaceful blues of dusk.
